A Confident Majority Voting Strategy for Parallel and Modular Support Vector Machines

چکیده
Support vector machines (SVMs) has been accepted as a fashionable method in machine learning community, but it cannot be easily scaled to handle large scale problems for its time and space complexity that is around quadratic in the number of training samples. In this paper, confident majority voting (CMV) is proposed to scale SVMs (CMV-SVMs). CMV-SVMs decomposes a large-scale task into many smaller and simpler sub-problems in training phase and choose some confident classifiers to vote for the final outcome in test phase. CMVSVMs is compared with standard SVMs and parallel SVMs combined by majority voting. Experiments on three problems show that the proposed algorithm can significantly reduce the overall time consumed in training and testing. More importantly, it produces classification accuracy that is almost the same as standard SVMs does.

Feature Selection and Classification of Microarray Gene Expression Data of Ovarian Carcinoma Patients using Weighted Voting Support Vector Machine
We can reach by DNA microarray gene expression to such wealth of information with thousands of variables (genes). Analysis of this information can show genetic reasons of disease and tumor differences. In this study we try to reduce high-dimensional data by statistical method to select valuable genes with high impact as biomarkers and then classify ovarian tumor based on gene expression data of...
متن کاملSurface Normals with Modular Approach and Weighted Voting Scheme in 3D Facial Expression Classification
A crucial part for facial expression analysis is to capture a face deformation. In this work, we are interested by the employment of 3D facial surface normals (3DFSN) to classify six basic facial expressions and the proposed approach was employed on the Bosphorus database. We constructed a Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to capture variations in facial shape due to changes in expressions usi...
متن کاملA Comparative Study of Extreme Learning Machines and Support Vector Machines in Prediction of Sediment Transport in Open Channels
The limiting velocity in open channels to prevent long-term sedimentation is predicted in this paper using a powerful soft computing technique known as Extreme Learning Machines (ELM). The ELM is a single Layer Feed-forward Neural Network (SLFNN) with a high level of training speed. The dimensionless parameter of limiting velocity which is known as the densimetric Froude number (Fr) is predicte...

Establishment of rating curves are often required by the hydrologists for flow estimates in the streams, rivers etc. Measurement of discharge in a river is a time-consuming, expensive, and difficult process and the conventional approach of regression analysis of stage-discharge relation does not provide encouraging results especially during the floods.
